We moved and I misplaced my cat's brush and comb. I have to admit I looked for it half-heartedly since she enjoys being brushed but didn't truly like the old brush and comb I had been using. My cat has medium long and quite thick fur which tends to develop "dreadlocks" if I don't keep up with her grooming. Again, I've been remiss. I kept "promising" her a new brush and finally after much reading of reviews decided on this one. No lie, when it arrived she watched me open the package and ran over to me when she realized it was her long awaited new brush. To say she purred loudly and rubbed her face on the brush repeatedly as I brushed her would be an understatement. She loves her new brush and so do I! In fact after a brushing and a nap while I typed up this review she's back for another brushing...that's amazing. First off, I have severe arthritis in my hands but holding the brush is effortless and pain-free thanks to rubber grips. It is lightweight and the handle is soft enough but not so flimsy that it bends unnecessarily while using (which would require more effort and a tighter grip) on my part. The button to click the bristles in or out is easy to use and works flawlessly when pressed for hair removal. Hair removal is a breeze. The bristles themselves are stiff and short but have little plastic/rubber ends so I don't worry about scratching her skin. They work great on her thick coat in removing surface hair and her dense undercoat but she didn't complain once. Being that my girl was overdue for a grooming I did get a great deal of hair off her including undercoat with just a few swipes, more than her old archaic brush ever did. I like that the bristles retract and won't be broken off while sitting in a drawer. Also, another nicety is that the brush comes in a plastic bag which I plan to store it in when not in use. Just a thoughtful extra. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase. Grooming my dear kitty will be enjoyable for both of us now and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this brush. I am actually planning to purchase two more, one for my Frenchies and one for my nephew for his kitties. Thank you Ruff 'n Rufus. (PS I can't comment on the nail clippers bc I didn't try them and didn't choose this brush bc of them as I already have great nail clippers for my pets.) Good luck and love your babies!
