We have taken to grooming our own poodles since everything has gotten so expensive these days. We have clippers but needed a good pair of nail clippers for our dogs. Given that this set was less expensive than buying a pair of nail clippers alone, this was a GREAT set!! The nail clippers work great and all the other tools in it are also useful and high quality. Definitely recommend!
This grooming kit is a little hard to review, as some pieces were great and some were terrible. I have a medium sized, medium hair dog which I tested on. The nail trimmers were basically unusable. They didn't automatically open, and when I pried them open to use they were too dull to work well. The scissors are also awful. Dull and barely cut his pad fur. I don't use files but it looked average. The brushes I liked pretty well. My dog's hair is longest on his tail and rear legs, it got a decent amount of hair from there without pulling excessively. The comb seems reasonably sturdy and I was able to brush him fine with it. He didn't exactly love the brushes but didn't hate them either and stayed still. The current list price is $9.99 which I feel is reasonable, just don't expect the nail clippers or scissors to work.
I started out really enjoying this kit as I worked through checking out and trying all the tools, but I was a little let down with the scissors because they were pretty dull and struggles to trim by dogs' hair.
The shedding brush was my favorite part. Its great quality and easy to use. My catahoula/yellow lab sheds so dang much, our first night after using this she didnt cover my blanket with fur when she hopped into bed! The pitbull loves the metal comb, not sure if she actually likes being brushed or just enjoys the scritches, either way they didnt run for the hills when I busted out the brush/comb two nights in a row. The scissors and clippers are heavy duty and sharp enough to get the job done painlessly. The file works perfectly and caused no pain for my girls. I LOVE that it all comes in a handy little case with cleaning cloth. Definitely bonus over other sets. Worth the price and was as expected.
They work pretty well. The scissor isn't the absolute sharpest and neither is the nail trimmer, but they work for my small dog. The large shedding brush is good too, probably the best thing in this set. I also love how this set comes with it's own zipper case.
